New Curler Training Program

The primary path to Full Membership for beginners — 10 weeks, Friday evenings.

The New Curler Training Program (NCTP) is an intensive, structured introduction to curling for people with little or no experience. Over 10 Friday evening sessions, participants learn delivery, sweeping, strategy, and the etiquette and traditions that make curling unique.

Program details

  • Schedule: Friday evenings at 6:15 pm or 8:30 pm
  • Duration: 10 weeks
  • Fee: $200 (Limited Membership)
  • Spots available: Approximately 16–20 per year

What you learn

  • Delivery — proper form and technique in the hack
  • Sweeping — how, when, and why to sweep
  • Strategy — basic shot selection and team communication
  • Rules and scoring
  • The Spirit of Curling — etiquette, traditions, and the social side of the game

What to bring

  • Clean athletic shoes (no boots or street shoes on the ice)
  • Comfortable pants that allow a lunging motion
  • Layers — the facility is around 40°F
  • All equipment (sliders, brooms, stones) is provided

Path to Full Membership

Completing the NCTP is the standard path to Full Membership for beginners. Participants who complete the program and wish to continue as Full Members are prioritized for the following season's enrollment, subject to availability.
