Flex Curling
Filling gaps — a path onto the ice for experienced waitlisted curlers.
There are times when existing Full Members are unable to curl due to injuries, maternity or paternity leave, sabbaticals, or other circumstances. When this happens, Broomstones may offer their spots to experienced curlers currently on the waitlist.
Each half-season, the club identifies available slots and extends invitations to eligible waitlisted curlers. This is the Flex Curling program.
What Flex Membership includes
Flex curlers receive Limited Membership status for the duration of their placement. This means:
- Access to the assigned league(s) for the half in which they are placed
- Full participation and substitution rights within their league
What Limited Membership does not include
- Voting rights at membership meetings
- Eligibility to hold club office
- Practice ice reservations
- Representation at external bonspiels under the Broomstones name
Continuity
Flex participation is not guaranteed from year to year or even half to half. Placements depend on available openings each season. Flex curlers who are placed successfully remain on the waitlist for Full Membership.
The program's aim is to increase member participation and maximize use of the ice while maintaining fairness to full members and waitlisted curlers alike.
