We offer a large variety of leagues that accommodate a wide range of curlers.
Mixed Doubles
Introduced as an alternative format to curling in the 2018 Winter Olympics, Mixed Doubles consists of a two-person team of mixed gender. It has a few different rules than “normal” curling including the placement of two stones prior to the end starting and the throwing of only 5 stones per team.

- Prior Mixed Doubles experience is not required, but it is helpful if you can sweep with your slider (gripper off)
Format:
- Register as a pair of mixed gender players.
- Team matchups are determined “pick-up” style by league coordinator over email prior to Sunday
- 8-end games
League-specific rules:
- Rules of Mixed Doubles play (see R15)

Derby

League Info:
- Two draws on Mondays at 6:15 PM and 8:30 PM. Occasional overflow games may take place depending on number of teams in league and available weeks in a given half.
- Good for all skill and experience levels but more competitive level of play than most leagues
Format:
- Register as a team, with optional 5th and 6th
- Brackets with round robin play with playoffs (if time permits)
League-specific rules:
- The no tick rule will be in effect.
- Three team points for wins, one point for tie games (no extra ends).
- First half divisions will be determined by a skip's ranking, in conjunction with previous league results, and League Coordinator discretion. The top ranked teams will play in the A division with the remainder of the teams playing in a B division.
- A & B divisions will play an intra-division round robin. Playoffs will be scheduled if time allows.
- At the conclusion of the first half round robin, divisions will be re-aligned for 2nd half.
- The bottom three (3) returning A division teams will be placed in the B division and the top three (3) returning B division teams will be moved into the A division. This change for the 24-25 season is in recognition of the increased parity in the league.
- A skips' ranking will determine placement of any new teams entering second half.
- League Coordinator(s) will use discretion to balance A & B divisions.
Teams are assigned ice maintenance. Two teams from the same sheet are assigned so all 8 players can help each other so the ice is ready for the next draw and your game will not be delayed. Teams playing the late draw are assigned light cleanup duties to help keep our club neat.
Tie Breaker:
In case of a tie at the end of the half, the tie-breakers are as follows:
- The winner of head-to-head matches
- The team who earned more of their points from wins beats the team with more points from ties.
- The team that played more games wins. Forfeits count as a game played.
We follow the Broomstones Timely Play Policy, unless timing clocks are available.
- Ring the bell 5 minutes before the draw time. Go to the ice and be ready to throw the first rock when the draw time arrives.
- Start on Time
- Be ready to throw your rock.
- Vices, watch the clock and talk to your skip. No end will start after 8:05 for early draw, and after 10:20 for late draw. 6:15 games need to be off the ice by 8:15 or 8:16, never 8:20 or 8:25. And 8:30 games need to be done by 10:30.
- If your draw starts late, or you can't finish 8 ends, see ice maintenance and the above bullets. It can be done.
Watching the little things will help make the league more fun for everyone.
