To our Good Curling and Well-being,

Please see below the summary of Board Approved recommendations for Broomstones COVID Operating Procedures. It is important that all members are aware of the action the Board is taking to ensure that our club operates with member safety in mind.

All members and guests who qualify by age MUST be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to enter Broomstones Curling Club. For those who have a severe allergic reaction to any component of either a mRNA vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should contact to seek a medical exemption. Most people however will still be safely able to receive an alternative vaccine.

If a person is undergoing monoclonal antibody treatment for Covid this will necessitate a temporary (90 day from last dose) exemption from receiving a Covid vaccine. They must however be willing to get vaccinated once the 90 days have elapsed.

Any exemption request must be verified in writing by an MD or DO.

We will not accept exemption requests submitted with incomplete documentation. It is your responsibility to submit your request in time for the committee to process it.

Knowing that the situation with Covid-19 is fluid, we reserve the right to adapt these rules and requirements as necessary to continue to provide our members and guests the safest curling experience possible.

2021-2022 COVID-19 Rules

  • • Rules are subject to change based on current federal, state, and local guidelines concerning COVID-19.

  • • Youth curlers 5 years of age and older and any members who are in the club at the same time must comply with the youth Covid policy of wearing a mask. This is also the rule for college curlers whose schools require them to wear a mask even when curling.

  • • Fully vaccinated individuals may curl and use the club facilities. Wearing a mask is mandatory except while actively eating or drinking.

  • • The Golden Rules: Get vaccinated.  Wear a mask.  All Individuals 5 years of age and older must provide proof of full vaccination to enter the club. This also applies to anyone entering the club for any reason, including guests.

  • Golden rules for club play

    • • No curling when sick (with symptoms of COVID-19 or any other potentially communicable disease)

    • • Maintain 6 feet social distancing whenever possible both on and off the ice.

    • • Players should avoid sharing stabilizers or brooms during a game.

    • • Players should wash their hands (or use hand sanitizer) before the start of each game and again before broomstacking.

    • • It is recommended to clean the rock handles with disinfection wipes prior to a game.

    • • Plentiful hand sanitizer and disinfection wipes are available in the warm room and ice shed.

    • • Avoid handshakes. Fist bumps, elbow bumps, broom taps, and a cheery greeting will suffice.

    • • Two players may sweep on a shot. Teams and leagues should respect the wishes of any individual who prefers not to sweep with another person.

    • • Sweeping behind the T line is allowed.

    • • Remove all beverages and personal items from the ice at the end of play.

In Case of a COVID – 19 Exposure:

  • • Any member who tests positive is requested to notify the Covid response committee as soon as possible by emailing This will allow us to communicate with the rest of the membership and help us in Contact Tracing.

  • • If you have been exposed to Covid-19 you should get a PCR test (administered by a healthcare worker) 3-5 days after you have been exposed.

  • • If you don't have symptoms you may continue to curl, but until you test negative you need to wear a mask indoors AND on the ice for up to 10 days.

  • • If you test positive for Covid-19 you may return to curl after 10 days if you are symptom free for at least two days.

  • • For COVID-19, a close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period even if you both were wearing a mask or you both were outside!

Contact Tracing:

  • • To enable contact tracing in the case of a positive exposure, a sign-in logbook has been placed at the front desk for guests. Please have your guests fill this out even if they have already uploaded their vaccination card.

  • • If you are a sub, a guest, a visitor, or any other individual not scheduled to be at the club, you are asked to sign-in to the logbook to facilitate contact tracing.

  • • In the event that a member should contract COVID-19, included is the Contact Informing Form that will need to be filled-out as soon as possible and sent to Our medical expert will then manage the contact informing process from that point.

Thank you for your support and consideration as we wish the best for everyone's safety and well-being throughout this curling season.
